HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Thursday has been designated as a First Alert Weather Day by the First Alert Weather Team due to significant rainfall affecting Oahu, Kauai, and Niihau. A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Oahu, which is valid until 4:15 p.m. today.
The ongoing heavy showers, combined with isolated thunderstorms, are anticipated to persist into the afternoon as tropical moisture is propelled northward across the state by a strengthening low-pressure system. Areas susceptible to flooding, including low-lying regions and flood-prone roads, could experience closures due to increased runoff and stream overflow. Urban locales may face heightened flooding and potential property damage due to rapid runoff. Heavy showers may linger into Thursday night and early Friday, particularly affecting leeward areas.
