HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The owner of Kapalua golf courses, TY Management, has brought a federal lawsuit against Maui Land and Pineapple Company and its executives, alleging fraud and racketeering related to the Honokohau water system. The complaint asserts that CEO Race Randle was involved in deceptive billing practices that raised irrigation water fees for the golf courses and other users in Kapalua.
According to the lawsuit, internal communications allegedly reveal that Maui Land and Pineapple falsified billing information to impose charges on customers for maintenance of the ditch system that the company was supposed to handle. In response, Maui Land and Pineapple accused the golf course owner of attempting to manipulate the legal system to coerce the sale of the water system, stating they will contest the lawsuit as it lacks merit.
